Stay Above the Lagoon

“ Up in the air with camels, flamingoes and pelicans! After staying in nothernmost Swakopmund we found this spectacular property in southernmost part of town after a brief drive to Walvis Bay. Stiltz is truly enchanting, with its gorgeous bungalows atop stilts surrounded by trees and desert plants. Flamingoes and pelicans can be seen flying past, the ocean is within quick walking distance, and the comfy furnishings seem designed for maximum relaxation. A central gazebo outfitted with plush sofas has marvelous ocean views, as does the breakfast hall. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and we slept soundly and deeply. So many wonderful choices for breakfast included freshly-baked croissants and muffins as well as perfectly-cooked bacon and eggs. The charming and friendly staff placed paw-paw (papaya) in a nearby tree to attract several species of birds, making this an unforgettable breakfast!Wandering around the property we were delighted to find a dozen camels chewing on tall grasses close to the ocean. A quick walk led us to the nearby Tiger pub with oversized wooden chairs featuring spectacular ocean views. It was a joy to stay here, we would definitely return! “ Very pleasant cottages on stilts. Spacious rooms with sitting area and nice bathroom. One of the few lodges in Namibia where there are heating and electric blankets provided in winter. Good wifi in rooms. Very attentive staff. They are also willing to help you book restaurants and excursions. Good location. Good restaurants in walking distance. “ We stayed two nights at the Stiltz and it was thoroughly enjoyable. We were lucky enough to stay in the rooms that had an unobstructed view of the river mouth were there was an abundance of birdlife as well as a group of camels that came down to drink. The Stiltz is in walking distance from the sea and so very easy to hear the surf at night and it has such a calm peaceful feeling about it. Rooms have everything you need and are cosy and comfortable, breakfasts are delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. I'll definitely visit again. “ We stayed 3 nights at the Stiltz and thought it one of the best properties and value for money that we encountered in our 15 day tour of Namibia. Friendly, professional staff who were responsive to all of our requests. Quiet, comfortable and private accommodation with excellent wifi in our room. Just a five minute drive from downtown Swakopmund but with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Swakopmund River. “ Beautiful area surrounded by weaver birds nests and a spectacular view of the border between the oasis of Swakopmund, the desert and the South Atlantic Ocean. The whole complex was on stilts and it was a really authentic African Style. It is pristinely clean and everything to even the wooden toilet lock was made with a lot of effort. It is in a very good location. The beach is just outside complex and it is less than a 5 minute walk to the aquarium, and is also very close to the main part of town. “ It was a great experience to stay over at the Stiltz: The smell of the thatched roof, sound of the ocean, the quietness and being right in the center of Swakopmund town. The view towards the dunes, bird filled lagoon and ocean was wonderful. The breakfast room has a great atmosphere and the best view combined with a great breakfast. I could spend the whole morning reading, relaxing and observing the birds in the lagoon. The service was very friendly and helpful. Would have loved to stay longer.
