Stone Sculptor · Steinbildhauer
Stone – Image – Sculptor.
Carving images into stone with hammer and chisel.
Good day. My name is Knut Hüneke, and I am a stone sculptor by profession.
Quite literally, I carve images into stone using hammer and chisel.
Mostly portraits of people, but also representations of animals.
My sources of inspiration
- 01
Rocks and their formation, particularly volcanic rock.
- 02
Evolution, from the earliest forms of life – the stromatolites – to humankind.
- 03
People themselves, in all their richness and diversity, their history and their contradictions.
- 04
And finally, artefacts – from the hand axe to the pyramids, Gothic cathedrals, Cubism and Minimalism.
My sculptures are the connection and essence of all these aspects.
The guiding principles of my work are geometric abstraction and leaving the surfaces as roughly worked as possible. The aim is to leave enough of the stone intact for it to remain stone, while giving the figure enough form to emerge.
“As much stone as possible, and as much figure as necessary.”
My collaboration with Danie Holloway offers a unique opportunity to bring together extraordinary architecture, archaic sculpture and an untouched primordial landscape.
Knut Hüneke
Guten Tag.
- 03
Die Menschen selbst in all ihrem Facettenreichtum, ihrer Geschichte und ihrer Ambivalenz.
- 04
